Hello, BlogWorld, today is my first day back to full health. I have breached the grounds of recovery from the flu! However, along with this, comes a few negative stresses. Perhaps the most stressful item that tops the charts: the start of a new semester in a few weeks. Spawning from the new semester, is choosing classes and all of that jazz. Also, I have a financial accounting exam tomorrow morning (woof!). ANYWAYS, this is the time for me to clear my head for a little while.
Have you ever wondered what life would be like if there were no cell phones, facebook, television, or any other contributions that factor in to human distraction? Seriously, take a second to think about it, there would be less idiotic drivers (less wrecks), less time worrying about other people, less time wasted sitting on your ass doing nothing,etc...the list can go on and on. The world would be so much more productive in general, to say the least.
Sorry, but I am feeling very philosophical today. What has caused this? A little trip to the gym led me to the epiphany. On the way there, I noticed about 70% of the people that I passed were on the phone (one hand giving gestures to someone that can't see them, one hand pressing the phone against the side of their face, you know the type). Then, when I finally got to the gym, people would stop their routine to answer their phone. I was thinking to myself, "maybe if you spent the time you do on the phone as you do burning fat, you wouldn't be so damn overweight!" ok, so maybe I'm being a little harsh, but it's so true!
It seems as if there are more addictions (other than the drugs) to worry about. My proposition to you: remove an element for 1 day, just 1 day, that causes regression in your day and see how productive you can be. This could be substituting television for reading a piece of literature, or going for a jog, instead of taking a nap because there's nothing to do. Even just ignoring the itch to check your facebook for a week couldn't hurt. Bottom line: Be proactive, get out there and do things! Don't be lazy, you can sleep when you die.

A combination of things
So, I'm playing catch up because I havent posted anything in a while. Here are a few things that have been going on:
- Twilight, so far, is definitely a good read, I'm about half way through. It doesn't have any educational value, but it is a fun read. (have you seen the movie yet?) The book is definitely better than the movie.
- I have just completed an essay on the (un)ethical decisions that were made in the movie My Sister's Keeper. It is a pretty interesting subject to write about, based on a very insightful movie (although it was pretty sad. No tears here, but Shea was teary-eyed). The movie really makes you think about taking life one day at a time. I couldn't help but think to myself, "What if I was a parent put in that situation. What would I do?" I recommend watching the movie, it's worth a watch, at least.
- Cornhole: Ah, yes, nothing can beat playing this game on the 4th of July, while grilling out with the family, of course. I have been running around buying supplies (about $60.00 and change) from Home Depot the past few days, and the anticipation of building 2 sets (one for Tony and one for me) is eating away at me. I cannot wait to start the process and paint mine Garnet and Gold for the home town crowd.
- Internship: I have to keep this in mind, as I approach the beginning of my 3rd year of college (crazy!) So far, I was offered an internship in the field of technology after completion of a "History of Technology" class in my first year at Rollins. I'm kind of kicking myself in the butt for not taking it, for the reason being that I was good at it, but just not interested in a technology internship. However, I'm looking forward to after this school year to see what ends up happening with an internship (would not mind traveling to a different place for a while)
(Gasp for air) That is about it, leaving here at 7 to go to Tony's and build some cornhole sets! In the words of Michael Biehn in Terminator, "Pain can be controlled--just disconnect it."

Gubbs!
Well, my name is Harry, but I am referred to as "Gubbs" to family, close friends, and in the XBOX LIVE gamerworld (R.I.P to my recently modified, now mangled, controller...ZEUSSERS!) So, many of you (or just a few) are wondering, "Why Gubbs? What does that even mean?!" I would love to be able to tell you some radical background story (such as, beating up some kid that stole my sister's lunch money) in which I ultimately received the alias. However, quite the opposite is true. I am very fortunate to have three loving sisters. Yes, they are all older than me. Yes, I still feel fortunate, because I have learned a lot of helpful things from them over the years, though they might not know it. Anyways, getting back to the whole "Gubbs" story; Somehow, somewhere, (even I do not know where this came from) one of my sisters started calling me "Gubbs" at a young age, and til this day, the alias has not only grown on me, but on others as well.
There you have it, I have elaborated on the "Gubbs" topic for long enough and you are probably (hopefully not) getting tired of seeing the name mentioned above. It is time for me to take a shower, relax, and indulge in reading one of my newest reads, called Twilight. The book is an interesting read, so far. 'Til next time, fellow bloggers, in the words of David Spade: "keep on keepin' on, brother!"
