Health

Hello, BlogWorld, today is my first day back to full health. I have breached the grounds of recovery from the flu! However, along with this, comes a few negative stresses. Perhaps the most stressful item that tops the charts: the start of a new semester in a few weeks. Spawning from the new semester, is choosing classes and all of that jazz. Also, I have a financial accounting exam tomorrow morning (woof!). ANYWAYS, this is the time for me to clear my head for a little while.

Have you ever wondered what life would be like if there were no cell phones, facebook, television, or any other contributions that factor in to human distraction? Seriously, take a second to think about it, there would be less idiotic drivers (less wrecks), less time worrying about other people, less time wasted sitting on your ass doing nothing,etc...the list can go on and on. The world would be so much more productive in general, to say the least.

Sorry, but I am feeling very philosophical today. What has caused this? A little trip to the gym led me to the epiphany. On the way there, I noticed about 70% of the people that I passed were on the phone (one hand giving gestures to someone that can't see them, one hand pressing the phone against the side of their face, you know the type). Then, when I finally got to the gym, people would stop their routine to answer their phone. I was thinking to myself, "maybe if you spent the time you do on the phone as you do burning fat, you wouldn't be so damn overweight!" ok, so maybe I'm being a little harsh, but it's so true!

It seems as if there are more addictions (other than the drugs) to worry about. My proposition to you: remove an element for 1 day, just 1 day, that causes regression in your day and see how productive you can be. This could be substituting television for reading a piece of literature, or going for a jog, instead of taking a nap because there's nothing to do. Even just ignoring the itch to check your facebook for a week couldn't hurt. Bottom line: Be proactive, get out there and do things! Don't be lazy, you can sleep when you die.

  1. Go Harry!! I agree! And without reading this beforehand, instead of being lazy today after work, we took Zeus on a 3 mile walk AND hit the gym!! It's a much better way to live life!
